In 2021, GSUSA launched a new scholarship program to recognize and provide financial support to one Gold Award Girl Scout per council. These Gold Award Girl Scouts have completed Gold Award projects that demonstrate extraordinary leadership, measurable and sustainable impact, and that address an issue of national and/or global significance.
Each Girl Scout council will select their scholarship recipient from among the Gold Award Girl Scouts in their council, based on a rigorous local review process. In addition to receiving an academic scholarship, each recipient will receive an official letter of notification, promotion that helps them reach a broad audience while highlighting the importance and impact of their projects and recognition at GSUSA’s Movement-wide Girl Scouts Change the World Celebration on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Who is eligible? Any Gold Award Girl Scout whose Gold Award final report has been approved by their council in GoGold, between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021, is eligible to apply. Girl Scouts who earned their Gold Award after March 2021 can apply for the scholarship in a future year.
Eligible girls can apply in GoGold. Simply log in to your account and click on “Apply for a GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship” in the dashboard. You will be asked to submit responses to four essay questions, as well as a link to a video that is about a minute long.
