Sea Turtles Adventure 2027

Four Girl Scouts (ages 15+) will travel to Warsaw National Wildlife
Refuge to join the Caretta Research
Project to monitor sea turtles for 8 days. This could be watching
for female turtles laying eggs along the beach or helping to ensure
turtle hatchlings reach the ocean after they emerge. Lodging will be
in bunk beds in a primitive cabin without electricity. There is an
inside toilet and an outdoor cold water shower. Most turtle work will
take place overnight when the turtles are most active. All meals will
be provided at the research site.
Dates: Summer
2027: July 16-25 OR July 23-Aug. 1 (10 days = 8 days with turtles + 2
days for travel)
Location: Warsaw National
Wildlife Refuge , Savannah, GA
Who: Seniors and
Ambassadors (15+ years or older)
Girl Cost: $2,300 (deposit of $200 due by May
15; subsequent payments of $150 will be due monthly on the 15th of the
month through July 2027; can apply for a $200 trip scholarship = not
based on financial need; anyone can apply).

Selections will be made by May 1.
Note: all
participants will need to have had a physical examination within two
years of the start of the event and complete your GIRL
Health Exam Record (#2078).
Payment: after
selections are made on May 1, you will be contacted to make your $200
deposit by May 15; subsequent payments of $150 will be due monthly on
the 15th of the month through July 2027; can apply for a $200 trip
scholarship = not based on financial need; anyone can apply.

Adventurers Scholarship: $200 for trips!
Through the generosity of donors, a scholarship fund has been
established in honor of our group’s founder, Barbara Duerk, to help
girls participate in Adventurers activities. Requests may not be more
than $100/year/program and $200 for trips $2,000+ , and each
application will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Details,
criteria and application for this scholarship fund can be found
here . Please submit scholarship applications one week before the

ABOUT THE ADVENTURERS HERE
Adventurers is an
action-oriented group of older Girl Scouts who are seeking exciting
activities to challenge their capabilities, broaden their horizons,
and increase their self-confidence. It is for girls ages 11-17 and in
