Pack'n'Boots: Wilderness Work & Wander

Join the Adventurers as we wander into the George Washington & Thomas Jefferson National Forest along the Appalachian Trail (AT) to a backcountry campsite for two nights. We will join an AT maintenance crew to work on an improvement project. This trip is open to those who have previous overnight backpacking experience. Participants will need to be able to hike about 4 miles in and out while carrying 25% of their body weight over uneven terrain. 

A mandatory in-person planning session will be held with the Adventurers before the trip. The session’s time/place will be scheduled to be central to those registered. Backpacks, tents, stoves, and other equipment are provided. 

Dates/Times: Friday, July 17, 10 AM, to Sunday, July 19, 3 PM

Location: Appalachian Trail, Ceres, VA (Bland Co.)

Girls' Ages: Juniors - Ambassadors (11-18 years old)

Cost: $40/girl (most gear and food provided)

Min/Max Girls: 2/8

Badge/Patch included: no; optional Adventurers-themed swag (please indicate items and sizes on registration)

Adventurers Scholarship
Through the generosity of donors, a scholarship fund has been established in honor of our group’s founder, Barbara Duerk, to help girls participate in Adventurers activities. Requests may not be more than $100/year, and each application will be considered on a case by case basis. Details, criteria and application for this scholarship fund can be found here.
