A core value of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character. One of the most impactful ways women engage in their communities is through voting, but that right was not always guaranteed. How did women fight for suffrage, and how does the voting process work today? This virtual, 4-week series is designed for Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors to explore the history and importance of voting, with a special focus on women's leadership and civic engagement. Girls will learn how women earned the right to vote, how government functions at the local, state, and national levels, and how elections shape the communities they live in. To demonstrate their understanding of voting, girls will also prepare to campaign for and vote for their Cookie Senator as part of this program's annual Cookie election.

Confirmed speakers include Emily Kilgore from the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum, Girl Scout volunteer Rise Hayes, the Charlottesville League of Women Voters - stay tuned for more guests and experts!
