As part of the leadership progression, the Cadette Program Aide leadership course is for 7th and 8th grade Cadettes Girl Scouts who would like to become a Program Aide to work with younger girls at Virginia Skyline Summer Camps. Girls will learn how to grow their leadership skills by planning and learning to lead activities for younger Girl Scouts. This workshop will also provide Cadette Girl Scouts the opportunity to learn how to work with younger girls in an outdoor setting and learn outdoor skills they may use in a day camp setting. Cadettes will practice being a role model and engaging different age groups along the way. After completing this leadership course, Cadettes are eligible to be a Program Aide at summer camp immediately following the completion of their 7th grade and 8th grade year in middle school. Seniors and Ambassadors are not eligible to earn the Cadette Program Aide National Leadership Award, but may attend this leadership course if they are not eligible to be a Counselor-In-Training (CIT). Being a Cadette Program Aide is a prerequisite to Counselor-In-Training (CIT). Additional camp-specific training is required before working with younger girls in a camp setting. This course is required to be a Program Aide at a GSVSC Summer Camp.
