Fun, Mud, & Cave 2026: Windy Cove Cave

Join the VA Skyline Adventurers to learn about cave formation, preservation, exploration, and ecology on a 4-hour wild caving tour of Windy Cove Cave in Bath County, VA. It is rumored that George Washington carved his initials into a boulder near the cave entrance, though this is not definitively confirmed. It is a limestone cave known for features like sinkholes, a stream, and springs. Participants will be provided with helmets with lights and batteries, coveralls, back-up lights, and candles.

Adventurers Scholarship
Through the generosity of donors, a scholarship fund has been established in honor of our group’s founder, Barbara Duerk, to help girls participate in Adventurers activities. Requests may not be more than $100/year, and each application will be considered on a case by case basis. Details, criteria and application for this scholarship fund can be found here. Adventurers is an action-oriented group of older Girl Scouts who are seeking exciting activities to challenge their capabilities, broaden their horizons, and increase their self-confidence. It is for girls ages 11-17 and in grades 6-12.
