Campus Scouts at Virginia Tech - Camporee 2025: A Journey into Outdoor Skills

Join the VA Tech Campus Scouts at Camp Tuk-A-Way for a fun-filled weekend where Juniors and Cadettes Troops will have the opportunity to complete some requirements from the Outdoor Journey. While the entire journey will not be earned during this weekend, girls will take part in activities that will help them develop confidence, teamwork, and outdoor skills. The Campus Scouts will provide a campfire and snacks on Friday evening (eat dinner before coming on Friday or bring packed dinners); each troop should come prepared to do a skit or song at the campfire. On Saturday, breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided. All eating utensils will be supplied. Each Girl Scout needs to bring a water bottle and light backpack.

Location: Camp Tuck-A-Way, Blacksburg
Girls' Ages: Junior and Cadette Troops
Cost: $30/girl
Badge/Patch Included?: yes, camp patches

Note: You must come as a troop, but girls register individually. A Girl Scout health history and Virginia Tech parent permission slip is required for each girl and adult volunteer. Also, each adult in attendance will need to take a youth protection training provided by Virginia Tech. 

No Electronic Devices. Cell phones can be used for emergency only.

 

Troop Requirements:

  • Troops must have completed 281 GS 301A Outdoor Education Planning (gsLearn) and 281 GS 301B Outdoor Education Overnight (In-Person).
  • Troops must have completed 281 GS 201 Trips and Overnights (gsLearn). 
  • A first aider must be present, and the first aider cannot be the trip leader.
  • A 2129 Activity Trip Permission form must be submitted to the council for approval.
  • Girl Scout Health History form 
  • VT parent permission form

What to bring: 

  • a water bottle
  • light backpack
  • health history form 
  • VT parent permission form 
  • camping equipement (a full list will be shared with you) 
  • troop first aid kit
  • Please come prepared to do a skit or song at the campfire
  • large lanterns (encouragered for nighttime use) 
  • may bring snacks and drinks (food must be kept in closed containers in backpacks or in the main building) 

Parking info: Back into parking lot so your car is facing out. After the scouts are settled, we will have our opening and introduction and Campfire activities along with S'mores.
