2025 Camp Theme: Challenging You to Challenge Yourself!
Get outside with Camp Adventurers! Camp Adventurers is an older girl weekend camp open to girls ages 11-18. This camp offers older girls the opportunity to attend camp, not work at camp. Friday night, Girl Scouts will set up their sleep spaces, have a flag ceremony, eat supper, and participate in a camp wide activity. Saturday, we’ll start with a flag ceremony and breakfast. After making bagged lunches, campers will spend their Saturday participating in one of four adventure activities with their patrol:
HIKING PATROL
This patrol will start their day by learning to read a map and
use a compass along with the Camp Skills/Camp Cooking Patrol before
heading out on an all-day hike. The group will use their new
orienteering skills to navigate the trail network at the camp and see
some beautiful views along the way.
ROCK CLIMBING PATROL
This patrol will start their morning with a hike over to the
rock-climbing area that has both an indoor climbing wall and an
outdoor natural climbing face. Campers learn and participate in rock
climbing and rappelling. This activity will require campers to be able
to hike approximately two miles each way and to be comfortable with
heights.
CHALLENGE COURSE PATROL
This patrol will visit the campus of Radford University to
complete their challenge course. The challenge course will offer a
variety of activities through a series of fun and unusual games and
problem-solving obstacles. While completing this activities,
campers learn valuable information about themselves, effectively
working with one another and functioning as a team.
CAMP SKILLS/CAMP COOKING PATROL
This patrol will be staying in camp on Saturday, but that
doesn’t mean they will be missing out on the fun. This patrol will
be learning and applying practical camp skills like map and compass,
knot tying, lashing, safe knife skills, gourmet outdoor cooking, and
various methods of fire-building. This patrol will be preparing our
Saturday dinner with their new cooking skills.
There will
also be some downtime for campers to play games, complete arts and
crafts projects, color, play sports, or just relax. Campers also will
play camp wide games, put on a skit at the Saturday night campfire,
and sleep a second night in their tents. Sunday morning is a Scout’s
Own ceremony, more
camp wide activities, reflection time, and
program before our closing ceremony at 1:00 PM.
