Venture into a land of sphagnum bogs, stunted trees, wind-carved
boulders, heath barrens, and meadows. This is not a trip into Canada,
but rather to the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia. This will be a
beginner trip totaling 12-15 miles over three days. Girls will carry
all of their own gear, cook on portable stoves, and sleep in tents for
2 nights and 3 days. There will be time for other fun adventures such
as creek wading and huckleberry picking. There will be a mandatory 1
day planning session before the trip. Most gear can be borrowed from
the Adventurers.

Adventurers Scholarship
Through the generosity of donors, a scholarship fund has been
established in honor of our group’s founder, Barbara Duerk, to help
girls participate in Adventurers activities. Requests may not be more
than $100/year, and each application will be considered on a case by
case basis. Details, criteria and
application for this scholarship fund can be found here. Please
submit scholarship applications one week before the program's

ABOUT THE ADVENTURERS HERE
Adventurers is an
action-oriented group of older Girl Scouts who are seeking exciting
activities to challenge their capabilities, broaden their horizons,
and increase their self-confidence. It is for girls ages 11-17 and in
grades 6-12. Members often participate in rock climbing, caving,
kayaking, backpacking, travel, hiking and other similar high-adventure
