About the Girl Scout Program
Fun, friendship and new adventures are what Girl Scouts is all about. Girls make new friends, challenge themselves, write their own stories, and take action to change the world for the better.
How? Through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience:
Girl-led: Girl Scouts follow their own lead, no matter their age.
Learning by Doing: Hands-on activities help them feel empowered to shape their own experience.
Cooperative Learning: With a tight-knit group of friends, Girl Scouts learn and grow together while cheering on each other.
Activities in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience focus on four key areas:
- Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
- Outdoors
- Life Skills
- Entrepreneurship
With the help of supportive adults and troop leaders who bring those processes to life, Girl Scouts:

and what her talents are.

Girl Scout Night at the Salem Red Sox
Join us for Girl Scout Night at the Salem Red Sox this August 8, 2025. Bring your friends and family for a night of baseball, fireworks, and a family movie on the field. Bring your camping chairs, picnic blankets, snacks and baseball gloves for a night of Girl Scout fun! Returning this year is the Overnight Campout on the Red Sox Field! MORE INFO HERE
S'mores Day Challenge
S'mores Day is celebrated each year on August 10. Did you know this camp classic was basically invented by Girl Scouts? In 1927, the first s'mores recipe was printed in the Girl Scout handbook, “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts.” Legend says the name “s'mores” came about because everyone who tasted the gooey campfire concoction asked for “some more.” This year, we are offering a virtual challenge for S'mores Day! Girl Scouts Love State Parks
It’s time to lead the way at your favorite state parks and help
create a better planet for all! How? By heading out to explore your
local state parks during this year’s Girls Scouts Love State Parks
Weekend! On September 9th and 10th, you can participate in self-guided
tours, family hikes, watersports, stargazing, and more; all while
fostering a clean environment for everyone to enjoy with Pick Up
America.
Operation H.E.R. Mental Health Summit
This event is an opportunity for girls and adults to come together to learn more about mental health, including how bullying can affect emotional well-being, from experts in the field while being in a fun, supportive, and uplifting environment. This year's event takes place on Sunday, September 7 at the Berglund Civic Center in Roanoke. MORE INFO HERE
Girl's and Ghouls
Join us for a day filled with ghoulish Halloween fun! Get into the Halloween spirit with pumpkin carving/decorating, trick-or-treating, and other spooky fun.
Future Voter
This four-week series is designed to teach Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors the ins-and-outs of the voting process so that when the time comes they will be prepared to be actively engaged. Participants will learn about democracy and how they can be involved in local, state, and national elections going on right now. Guest speakers will discuss the role of elected officials at the local, state, and federal level, the influence that elections and voters have over these positions, and answer questions about the election process and elected offices.

Tough Cookie
Join us for the sweetest race in the Roanoke Valley! This annual event supports Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council and we are excited to challenge participants again on the cross-country course at Greenfield Recreation Park in Botetourt County.
Mall Madness
Get ready night owls for the best overnight fun at the mall! Mall Madness is back!! This year's theme is "Spring Fling!" Registrations for both girls and adults includes admission, snacks, t-shirt, patch, and activities. There will be additional activities for Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts. All adults who attend are required to work a one-hour shift at some during the night.
Junior Jam
Join us as we journey through different movie experiences. Each workshop will provide an activity themed around one of your favorite movies!
