Join us for a three day/two night backpacking adventure hiking the
Appalachian Trail in Jefferson National Forest while completing
Virginia's
famous Triple Crown
. Participants will hike 35 miles through wooded terrain that hits a
popular trio of incredible vistas: Tinker Cliffs, McAfee Knob, and
Dragon's Tooth. Participants will prepare their meals, spend two nights
in backcountry campsites, and learn Leave No Trace camping principles
and skills. This is a good trip for intermediate backpackers; it is not
recommended for inexperienced backpackers.
Backpacks, tents, stoves, and other equipment are provided, making
this an economical way to discover the joys of backpacking.
A mandatory planning session will be held around May 12 at a location
convenient for those who register.
