Looking to take your backpacking skills to the next level? Join us for a
week-long backpacking and high adventure experience as part of the
Adventurers' Crew at High Knoll Trail Camp. During the week you will
backpack 35-50 miles over five days, throughout the 16,000 acre Blue
Ridge Scout Reservation in Pulaski County. Each day ends in a new
backcountry outpost camp where you will participate in a variety of high
adventure activities, including rock climbing, black powder rifle
shooting, challenge games, mountain boarding, and blacksmithing.
Activities will be physically demanding and some backpacking experience
is recommended, but not required.
Backpacks, tents, stoves, and other equipment are provided, making this
an economical way to discover the joys of backpacking.
At least one mandatory planning meeting will be held before the
week-long event. The time and place will be set in a central location
(or virtual) once registration closes. Each girl is expected to
participate in at least one shakedown backpacking trip during the
spring. The cost of the shakedown trip is not included in the High Knoll
event fee. Trips generally cost $25 for a one night backpacking trip.
Girls will have the opportunity to earn the new Adventurers Boots,
Bikes, and Boats 50-miler Award patch.
