Pack'N'Boots: Rice Fields

Join The Skyline Adventurers for a one night backpacking experience in Giles County, hiking along the Appalachian Trail to the Rice Fields Shelter where we will spend the night. This shelter offers some of the best sunset views over the mountains of neighboring West Virginia. The trip is an out-and-back route covering approximately three miles each way.

Backpacks, tents, and other equipment are provided making this an economical way to discover the joys of backpacking. A mandatory planning session will be held with the Adventurers before the trip. The time and place for the meeting will be scheduled to be central to those registered.

Dates/Times: Saturday, June 4, 11:00 AM, TO Sunday, June 5, 1:00 PM
Location: Rice Fields Shelter, Giles County
Girls' Ages: Juniors - Ambassadors (11-18 years old)
Cost: $25/girl (most gear and food provided)
Min/Max Girls: 3/12
Badge/Patch included: no; optional Adventurers patch available for $2; optional Adventurers t-shirts for $15 (short-sleeve) or $20 (long-sleeve); optional Adventurers bandanna for $5 (please indicate items and sizes on registration).

Adventurers Scholarship
Through the generosity of donors, a scholarship fund has been established in honor of our group’s founder, Barbara Duerk, to help girls participate in Adventurers activities. Requests may not be more than $100/year, and each application will be considered on a case by case basis. Details, criteria and application for this scholarship fund can be found here. Adventurers is an action-oriented group of older Girl Scouts who are seeking exciting activities to challenge their capabilities, broaden their horizons, and increase their self-confidence. It is for girls age 11-17 and in grades 6-12.
