Adventurers: Campfire Friendship

Fri Sep 06, 6:00 PM - Sat Sep 07, 7:00 AM EST
Pembroke Scout Hut, Giles Co. Map
Senior, Cadette, Ambassador

Join us for an all night campfire for girls ages 11+. We'll sing songs, produce skits, make s'mores, play games, learn to hacky sack and enjoy some downtime around a fire. Participants will each leave with a special container of Friendship Ashes to continue on a Girl Scout tradition.

Friendship Ashes are a tradition started many years ago. It symbolizes the universal love and friendship that the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides all over the world show and share. Each campfire is said to bring luck, friendship, health, and prosperity to anyone who is near enough to feel its warmth and see its light.

Ashes from campfires past are saved and added to the living flame of a new fire, symbolizing the traditions, memories, and friendships that Girl Scouts and Girl Guides have shared for three generations. The next morning, when the ashes are cooled, they are stirred, collected, and evenly distributed into small packages, so each Girl Scout present at the campfire may take with her ashes to share with other Girl Scouts at other campfires. It is a tradition that only those actually present at the campfire can receive the ashes.

Participants may attend as individuals only.
