CANCELED: Pack'N'Boots: False Cape State Park
Due to the reactivation of the IDP, this event is canceled.
Join us for a unique two night experience backpacking at False Cape State Park which is nestled between Back Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the last remaining undeveloped areas along the Atlantic coast. As the former home of Native Americans, the historic Wash Woods community and Little Island Coast Guard Station, False Cape honors the hardy souls who made a living from the sea. The park offers an opportunity to experience nature in a unique, primitive setting. The park is accessible only by foot, bicycle, beach transport, tram or boat.
Backpacks, tents, stoves and other equipment are provided; making this an inexpensive way to discover the joys of backpacking.
A mandatory pre-planning session will be held for any girls that have not backpacked with Adventurers before.
This is an intermediate trip and girls will need to be able to hike about 8 miles a day while carrying 25% of their body weight over uneven terrain.
Carpooling will be available from Blacksburg east along I-81 and I-64.
Participants may attend as individuals.
