Never fear, Girls & Ghouls is back for 2020 with some notable updates!

What: This year's Girls & Ghouls may look a lot different but it will still be an outdoor Halloween party like no other! Here are some of the highlights: Girls & Ghouls will be a Day-Only Event with Two Dates & Locations and All-Ages will be welcome! That's right, we're bringing Girls & Ghouls to Camp Icimani on October 17 & Camp Sugar Hollow on October 24. Each event will have three separate 2-hour time slots so Girl Scouts of all ages can participate. 10 AM – 12 PM will be for Daisies & Brownies. 1–3 PM will be for Juniors, and 4–6 PM will be for Cadettes, Seniors & Ambassadors. Younger and older girls will have different activities, with the younger Girl Scouts painting pumpkins and older Girl Scouts pumpkin carving! You can expect a few other traditional Girls & Ghouls activities like Halloween SWAPS and a fun craft, plus all girls will receive a take home edible snack! New this year, we're also offering the option of Girls & Ghouls in-a-box for those who cannot attend in-person. Choose a free box pickup for everything you would receive in-person, or select for your box to be mailed for a $10 shipping fee (mailing will include everything but the pumpkin).

Before registering, please review these Frequently Asked Questions:

What safety measures will be in place in light of COVID-19?  The safety of all participants is of the utmost importance, and we ask all participants to take the Girl Scout "Culture of Care" Pledge before attending (available via link below). The event will be held outdoors, all in attendance will be expected to maintain social distancing and will need to keep a face mask on their person to be worn any time they are indoors (such as using restrooms) or if unable to maintain social distance (such as for an emergency situation). Anyone who has been in contact with a person who is positive for COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms should not attend. Temperatures will be taken for attendees at the event. Please also review all GSVSC policies & procedures regarding COVID-19 at gsvsc.org/covid.

Will Girls & Ghouls be an overnight this year? No, due to current GSUSA policies we have converted Girls & Ghouls to a day-only program for 2020.

When & where is Girls & Ghouls happening? We're so glad you asked! Girls & Ghouls will be twice as fun this year, because we are expanding to two events and two different locations. Saturday, October 17 will be at Camp Icimani in Roanoke, and Saturday, October 24 will be at Camp Sugar Hollow in Crozet.

Who can participate?  Since we were already shaking things up a bit, we decided to design a Girl & Ghouls experience for Girl Scouts of all age levels! There will be three different sessions for the different age groups so all girls can participate in unique activities.  Non-Girl Scouts are also welcome to attend for an additional fee (includes a GS membership). However, space will be extremely limited, so we cannot accommodate tagalongs or more than one adult maximum per household.

What if I can't make it in-person but still want to participate? We've got you covered too!  We know that not everyone will be able to experience Girls & Ghouls in-person with us, so we're offering a Girls & Ghouls in-a-box to be picked up in-person on the day of the event. The box will include everything you need to have an at-home Girls & Ghouls experience of your own. We will also be offering a mailing option to include everything but the pumpkin.

What will be included?  Each age grouping will have unique activities. Younger Girl Scouts will be painting pumpkins and older Girl Scouts will be pumpkin carving. All-ages will have a Halloween craft, SWAPS and will take home an edible activity. All girl participants will also receive a fun patch!

What if there is inclement weather?  In order to maintain social distancing, Girls & Ghouls will be an all-outdoor experience. Participants will need to prepare for the weather. In the event of  inclement weather, we will provide all registrants the Girls & Ghouls in-a-box for pick-up as an alternative (or delivery with the additional fee). We will not be able to offer refunds in the event of inclement weather.
