Animal Dance Party! (K-3rd Grades)

VIRTUAL & IN REAL LIFE PARTIES!!

FOR THE GIRLS (K-3rd Graders)
Want to get the fun started today? Try this!
Imagine you're a grasshopper or a ladybug. How do bugs like those see the world? Do little rocks seem big? Do blades of grass seem super tall? Now put on some music. How do you move or dance differently now that you're a bug? Now pretend you're a bird that can fly high above the earth, a giant elephant with a swinging trunk, or even a household pet. How did your dancing change? We'll learn about lots of animals and find fun new ways to dance together at the party!

FOR THE GROWN-UPS
These virtual events are free and open to all local girls in kindergarten through third grade—the more the merrier!
While your girl enjoys the party,  we'll get to know each other and share ideas on Girl Scouts can supercharge your girl's life.

Robot Building Party! (K-3rd Grades)

FOR THE GIRLS (K-3rd Graders)
Want to get the fun started today? Try this!

Want to get the fun started today? Try this: Imagine you could build any kind of robot you wanted. Would it be a robot that could make your life more fun, easier, or both? What would it do and how would it work? It's up to you! Now, use crayons, colored pencils, or markers to draw a diagram of your robot.  A diagram is just a fancy word for a picture with labels telling you about the different parts of something. At the party, we'll learn a lot about robots — and build one too! Can't wait to see you!

Meeting 1: Launch into Literacy
Language and Literacy is an important part of kindergarten readiness. Through storytelling and re-telling, your girl can identify major characteristics, setting, and basic story lines which increases her ability to react to words, and understand their meaning. Join us to have story time, and then lead your girl to draw a picture of herself and telling her story afterwards! The goal is to provide parents or caregivers an opportunity to help girls learn how to listen to a story, identify major characters, setting, and plot lines.

Meeting 2: Shoot for the Stars
Girls are little scientists! They are eager to observe and make discoveries about their worlds. An important part of kindergarten is learning how to use their senses to observe the world, discover how things work, and use their new knowledge to solve problems. During this meeting, we will begin exploring the sun, sky, and help girls to develop the ability to use their senses and solve problems.  Soon, girls will be ready to shoot for the stars when they enter kindergarten! The goal is for girls to use their senses to process the world around them, practice reasoning, and problem-solving skills, and show interest by asking questions about what they see and learn in this session.

Meeting 3: Spring into Science
Going into kindergarten, girls should be able to show interest in an idea or topic, and ask questions about what they are seeing. In this session, girls will learn by doing as they explore the world around them with curiosity and make new friends! Join us as we help prepare girls for their first big day of kindergarten. The goal is to help girls use their imaginations to act like animals and practice interacting with other girls, explore new ideas and gain courage to ask questions about what they see, which are essential skills girls will need as they enter kindergarten!

Meeting 4: Dreaming of Success
As a new kindergartener, girls will begin to see themselves as unique individuals who have their own abilities, emotions, and interests.  Join us as we help girls learn about persistence, talk about different emotions, and share their dreams with other girls!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Participants will need access to high speed internet, computer/laptop/tablet to join the workshop. Meetings will be virtual using Zoom. A Zoom link will be emailed to parents/caregivers after registration closes. Parents/caregivers should ensure they've enter the correct email address during registration.

What is Girl Scouts?

Girl Scouts isn’t just a moment in her life, it’s a Movement dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Why Do Families Love Us?
Girl Scouts is a way of life that brings out the best in your girl, and helps her bring out the best in everyone around her. While she’s learning about STEM, the outdoors, entrepreneurship, and important life skills, she’s also discovering new ways to make your family and community stronger, kinder, and better for everyone.

How Does it Work?
Groups of Girl Scouts from the same community, called troops, typically meet weekly or bi-weekly for an hour or two. Hand-in-hand with adult volunteers—often parents or caregivers—girls select exciting hands-on activities and projects, try new things, and cheer each other on. Together, they earn badges to reflect their successes and show the world what they’re made of.

What’s the Goal?
Making sure girls see and have the opportunity to reach their potential isn’t just about helping them earn better grades, make better decisions, and have happier lives (although it helps with those things, too!). It’s about creating a more fair, equal, and compassionate world where every girl has a seat at the table and can make her dreams come true. Check out our values in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
