volunteer essentials

Welcome to the great adventure of Girl Scouting! Thanks to volunteers like you, generations of girls will learn to be leaders in their own lives and in the world.

We know you’re busy and need to be efficient with your time. For that reason, Volunteer Essentials gives you the nitty-gritty—what you need to know now, as you plan for your first meeting with girls. Volunteer Essentials is a reference for you to use throughout the year, whether you are an experienced or new volunteer. When you have a question, simply look-up the topic in the table of contents, and then click the hyperlink to find your answer. Think of this electronic manual as your encyclopedia to Girl Scout volunteering: it’s here when you need it, but there’s no need to read it all today.

As you read through the digital/electronic copy of Volunteer Essentials, you will notice that some words and sentences are underlined (i.e., the table of contents). These words and phrases are hyperlinked. When this document is viewed here online, the reader is able to view additional websites or go directly to a particular section within the document by pressing the control key and clicking on the hyperlinked words and phrases. The online version of this document is also searchable by utilizing the control-F function (find mode).
