Girl Scout Troop 513 was DC-Bound in June

Provided by Cindy Robertson
The first week of June, Girl Scout Troop 513 toured our nation’s capital. The trip started off at four in the morning when the girls met in Narrows to drive to Lynchburg. In Lynchburg, we caught the Amtrak Crescent and spent three hours viewing the countryside while being able to relax and enjoy the companionship of those traveling with us.

The 10 girls and six leaders of Girl Scout Troop 513 left Narrows at 4 a.m. on Monday, June 7, to spend the week in our nation’s capitol:  Washington, DC. While in DC, the girls learned of our nation’s history and the many hardships and fights it took to get to where we are today.

Troops 129 and 456 Take Pilgrimage to Savannah

provided by Tracy Carmichael
Troops 129 and 456 from Western Albemarle spent a week in July along with many other girls worldwide in a pilgrimage to Savannah. In addition to touring the home of Juliette Gordon Lowe, founder of Girl Scouting, the group of 25 girls and moms took in a historic carriage ride, a magical dolphin discovery boat tour, some marine science and maritime history on Tybee Island, and days of endless Southern cooking. The adventure began and ended on the Amtrak train from Richmond, where a treasure chest of memories was made and shared.
