gs greats

We do have a lot of “famous formers” Girl Scout alumnae like Hillary & Chelsea Clinton, Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush, Katie Couric, Sandra Day O’Connor, Barbara Walters, Martha Stewart, Mariah Carey and Sheryl Crow. Yet Girl Scout Greats come from all walks of life: inspirational volunteers, business and political rainmakers, scientists and inventors, devoted parents, and celebrities pursuing their dreams. They all have this in common: they’re Girl Scouts, just like you.

49% or 1 in every 2 adult women were a member of Girl Scouts!
67% of female members of the House of Representatives were Girl Scouts!
69% of female US Senators were Girl Scouts!
80% of women business owners were Girl Scouts!
93% of female astronauts who have flown in space were a Girl Scout!

Today we are more than 3 million strong! We are urban, rural, and suburban. We are in schools, churches, temples, mosques, public housing, foster homes and detention centers. We are in virtually every zip code and in 90 countries around the world.

2.3 million girls, 5 to 17 years of age
16,000 Girl Scouts overseas
880,000 adult volunteers
59 million alumnae

We are over 100 Years Young – celebrating a century of trailblazing, of leadership, of fun and friendship—and we’re just getting started.

As they say in Girl Scouting, “Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout!”
