Hike 50 for the 50th

Lynchburg GS Troop 295Continuing on with the incredible enthusiasm generated by The Great Girl Scout Hike on the Appalachian Trail, which celebrated 100 years of Girl Scouting, the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council is celebrate its 50th birthday by hiking on amazing trails right here in our very own council! Girls, troops, leaders and parents can get outdoors and Hike 50 for the 50th to celebrate 50 years of the Virginia Skyline Council serving Girl Scouts in central, southside, southwest and western Virginia! The Hike 50 Patch can be earned by just going for a hike anywhere with your troop, family, GS community, camp, etc. The “50” can be 50 miles or 5.0 miles, 50 minutes or 50 seconds, 50 different hikes or hiking on 50 different days, 50 silly songs or 50 jokes, OR whatever 50 you want to incorporate into your very own 50th anniversary hike. The Hike 50 patch can be earned anytime during 2013 up until July 1, 2014 (when our council officially turns 51 years old). You may hike anywhere – in your own community, at a state park, on the AT or anywhere outside that has a trail (dirt or paved).
