<p><strong>There are two easy steps to participate<br />
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">STEP 1</span>:</strong> Register by <strong>June 20</strong> for the Girl Scout Voices Panel at <a style="color: #00ae58;" href="http://www.girlscoutvoices.org" target="_blank">www.girlscoutvoices.org</a> (girls only &#8211; not adults; all age-levels of Daisies to Ambassadors; girls under the age of 13 will need parent/guardian permission, which is included as part of the registration).</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>STEP 2:</strong></span> On June 21, each registered girl will complete one brief &#8220;Help Make Girl Scouts Even Better&#8221; survey about her experiences in Girl Scouting. A separate survey link will be sent at that time to all girls who have registered.</p>

<p>The National Council Session is the Girl Scouts’ major governance meeting. The members of the National Council convene every three years to help shape the future of our Movement by voting on business proposals, reflecting on topics like women in corporate leadership positions and girl advocacy, and celebrating the Girl Scout Movement! The National Council membership includes delegates elected from each Girl Scout council and from USA Girl Scouts Overseas.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The GSVSC Board Development Committee is now accepting applications for the position of 2014-2017 National Council Delegates. Our National Council Delegates will represent Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline at the National Council Session to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, October 16-19, 2014.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>A single slate of candidates will be presented for election at the January Annual Meeting. The term will begin immediately following the Annual Meeting and end at the Annual Meeting in 2017. Applicants must be a Girl Scout adult or girl member at least 14 years of age at the time of election and a United States citizen.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We will be electing National Council Delegates and alternates. Expenses for delegates to attend the National Council Session will be paid for by Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council. Any member of Girl Scouts may attend the National Council Session as a visitor at their own expense. Visitor information will be available at a later date.</p>

Recognize a leader or co-leader for the great work they do for Girl Scouts! It is easy to nominate someone for this special recognition. <strong>Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day: Monday, April 22<br />
<span style="color: #00ae58;"><em>Thank you for creating a supportive environment that encourages successful futures for all girls!</em></span></strong></p>
<p>Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day is a day of appreciation for adult volunteers in Girl Scouting held on April 22 every year. Girl Scouts is an outstanding leadership organization for girls due to the exceptional effort put forward by our volunteers. Join us in celebrating all our wonderful adult volunteers during National Volunteer Appreciation Week and as we give a special shout out to Girl Scout Leaders on Leader Appreciation Day.</p>

<p>Although volunteers are always appreciated, it is during these special days that we take the time to acknowledge that our adult volunteers are our neighborhood heroes and the lifeblood of the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline organization. We encourage the girls, their families and service unit/Girl Scout communities to plan special gestures to show appreciation for the adult Girl Scout volunteers in their lives.</p>

<p><strong>The Outstanding Leader Award</strong><br />
Recognize a leader or co-leader for the great work they do for Girl Scouts! The <a style="color: #00ae58;" href="http://www.gsvsc.net/wp-content/uploads/Shop-Brownie/03/4055_outstanding_leader_award_nominatione.doc" target="_blank">Outstanding Leader Award</a> is a great way to say thank you to your favorite leader or assistant leader. After all, they make it possible for girls to be in a troop and experience all that Girl Scouting has to offer. The recipient will be listed in the council’s permanent files and will receive a lapel pin and attractive certificate signed by our council president as well as the CEO of Virginia Skyline. It is easy to nominate someone for this special recognition. The <a style="color: #00ae58;" href="http://www.gsvsc.net/wp-content/uploads/Shop-Brownie/03/4055_outstanding_leader_award_nominatione.doc" target="_blank">Outstanding Leader Award</a> can be given at any time; there is no deadline for nominations.
