Join us this spring for an adventurous trip to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky! Girls will get in touch with nature during this weekend camping trip jam-packed with hiking, canoeing, caving, ranger talks, and campfires. Get down and dirty in the cave mud, experience a moment of total darkness, and learn about how the world’s largest known cave was formed while we explore in an Introduction to Caving course. If spelunking is not for you and you would rather take a casual walking tour of the cave, please note your preference upon registration. Both cave activities will last about 3 1/2 hours. We will paddle in style down the peaceful, emerald-colored Green River and rove the park on foot to scout for wildlife.
All participants must be at least 10 years old. Sorry, no exceptions. Some activities will be physically challenging. The Introduction to Caving will cover 2 underground miles. Participants should be able to crawl on hands and knees for a short distance. Total stairs: 280+. Elevation change: 250 feet. Transportation, most meals, tent/camp stove rentals, and all program fees are included in the price. Just bring your sleeping bag, drip bag and personal overnight gear, and away we go!
Participants may attend as individuals (with sponsor/adult/parent) or troops (with appropriate number of leaders/adults). Parent/guardian or leader will need to stay during the program.
