The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is a federally protected wilderness area located in northern Minnesota along the Canadian border. It is a land of lakes and forests. The Boundary Waters Adventure will be a 7 day wilderness canoe and camping trip. We will pack up all of our supplies for the week and head out into the wilderness. We will paddle from lake to lake. Between lakes we will portage (carry) all of our gear along established portages (trails). The scenery and solitude are amazing. Wildlife sightings may include loons (for sure!), bald eagles, moose, black bears, frogs, owls . . . and wolves howling! This is truly a life changing week.

The canoe trip is outfitted and led by staff from the Northern Lakes Canoe Base, a camp belonging to the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin Lakes and Pines Council. On our sightseeing days, options include hiking on the North Country National Scenic Trail, visiting Split Rock Lighthouse on the shore of Lake Superior, visiting an historic iron mine and nuclear research lab, hunting for fossils at an iron mine or hunting for agates on the shore of Lake Superior, and visiting the city of Duluth…there are lots of opportunities for fun in Minnesota! We will fly from Virginia to Minnesota, then travel by van for the Minnesota portion of the trip. There will be at least one pre-trip planning event at Camp Sacajawea before we go.

Participants may attend as individuals only.
