Customer Engagement Initiative (CEI)

Imagine a world where girls and volunteers join Girl Scouts with ease, and the process of becoming a troop leader is completed in a few days instead of weeks. Volunteers and families can find answers and receive support easily, in ways that best fit their schedules and lives. More girls and volunteers return year after year to an organization they love.

Can you imagine it? We can too, and we’re ready to make it a reality!

That’s why Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline is joining with Girl Scouts of the USA and councils across the nation in a new way of engaging and communicating with volunteers, families and girl members. The project is the Customer Engagement Initiative (CEI) and it’s all about improving the volunteer experience and making it easier for girls to get involved with Girl Scouts!

How will CEI change my membership experience? It will…

Make it easier to find a troop.
The new online Opportunity Catalog (check-out FAQ) will allow parents and volunteers to search for troops, locations and meeting days that work for them and show the volunteer positions that need to be filled to get the troop off the ground. Volunteers will be appointed to a troop in one week instead of the 4 to 6 week process under our current system, and parents will be regularly informed of their girl’s status.

Simplify registration and background screening
Volunteers will move directly from registration to online background screening, simplifying the volunteer enrollment process while ensuring that volunteers are carefully screened.

Simplifying troop management.
The new online Volunteer Toolkit (check-out the videos below), which will be released in June, will help troop volunteers get what they need, when they need it, based on their troop’s calendar. Troops will be able to plan out their whole year and have a roster of all troop member information, accessible via computer or mobile device, and tools to facilitate communication between parents and troop leaders.

Improve girl and volunteer experience.
Improved materials will help volunteers work with their troops to plan troop activities, custom-fit with what their troop loves to do, and coordinate it with a Journey.

New and improved website.
Last summer, our website received a fresh new look, consistent with the Girl Scout brand and aligned with other councils across the country. The website features up-to-date information, a user-friendly calendar of events and easy to find council resources, right at your fingertips, whether on your computer, tablet, or smartphone!
