Camp Theme: Camp Maker Space

Camp Description
Building on the current Maker Movement that has a strong emphasis on learning-by-doing in a social environment, Camp Sacajawea will transform into an outdoor Maker Space! Your camper will will be immersed in stations of creativity, tinkering, and making. Campers will rotate through various maker stations daily that will engage them in art and design, science, problem solving, and the endless possibilities of their own imaginations. In addition to daily maker tasks, campers will enjoy the many wonderful amenities at Camp Sacajawea such as "The Dot" splash pad, archery, hiking, and games! The rising 7th-9th graders may enjoy 1 or 2 excursions off site (weather permitting). The excursion will be chosen at camp in a girl-led discussion. Parents of our Makers are welcome to join us on Thursday evening at 7pm for an entertaining evening program.

Monday-Wednesday; 9am-3pm Daily
Thursday-9am-Overnight (for those campers that have completed 1st grade)
Friday-Camp ends at 9:30am

Overnight
Girls who have completed 1st grade and up may stay overnight on Thursday, June 21st. Current kindergartners will go home after the family program on Thursday night. Girls who go home Thursday do not return on Friday.

Campers' Ages
Girls who have completed kindergarten and up in the 2017- 18 school year may attend as campers. Girls are assigned to units based on grade level unless otherwise requested during registration. Rising 7th-9th graders may attend either as campers or as assistants.

Girl Camp Leadership Programs
Camp Program Assistant/Cadette Program Aide (grades 6 and up)
This program is for girls who want to help younger campers. CPA’s assist leaders in carrying out camp programs and activities. They must register for camp and attend a staff planning session prior to camp. Please contact the camp director for additional information.

Counselor-in-Training/CIT (grades 9 and up)
Older girls may apply to be a CIT. They must complete a CIT Application (#2630) and attend GSVSC’s CIT training. They must register for camp and attend a staff planning session prior to camp. Please contact the camp director for additional information.

Counselor-in-Training II/CIT II (grades 11 and up; must have served at a GSVSC summer camp as a CIT)
Girls can submit a CIT II Application (#2666) if they have previous camp leadership experience. They must register for camp and attend all camp staff meetings. Please contact the camp director for additional information.

Transportation
Parents are responsible for their daughters’ transportation to and from camp. Parents are encouraged to form carpools with other campers in the area or with their troop.

Refund Policy
$25 dollars of your fee is non-refundable, the remaining amount is subject to the GSVSC refund policy.

$90 camp fee, rising 1st graders-rising 6th graders
$110 camp fee, rising 7th graders-rising 9th graders
$40 camp fee for CPAs or CITs
$40 camp fee small fry/boys unit for sons of adult volunteers up to age 11

Adult Camp Volunteer Opportunities/Staff Member Discounts Available
Adults are welcome and needed as staff members. There is a reduced fee for staff members’ daughters. Adult training will be provided. Date TBD. If you are interested in being an Adult Camp Volunteer, please send an email to the Camp Director, Sarah Muminovic, at daycampsacajaweava@gmail.com by April 1, 2018.

Daughters of adult staff members working 32+ hours:
$50 camp fee for rising 1st-6th
$60 camp fee for rising 7th-9th

Daughters of adult staff members working 13-31 hours:
$65 camp fee for rising 1st-6th
$75 camp fee for rising 7th-9th

Daughters of adult staff members working 12 hours or less:
$80 camp fee for rising 1st-6th
$90 camp fee for rising 7th-9th


There is a reduced fee for staff members’ daughters, please contact the Camp Director prior to processing payment for your daughter to receive the necessary discount code.


Financial Assistance
Financial assistance available to assist with camp fees for those who qualify. All campers requiring financial assistance must submit registration NO LATER than May 1, 2018. This deadline is two weeks earlier than the date that registration closes to provide additional processing time. If you are approved, you will receive an approval email with your discount code.
