Adventures in VA State Parks: Wake-Up with the Wild Ponies (1- or 2-night options)
Join us for a 1 (or 2) night experience backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. Participants will hike through Grayson Highlands State Park, home of the famous wild ponies. We'll camp near Mt. Rogers (the highest point in Virginia)! The 1-night option (Saturday night) is a wonderful, easy introduction to backpacking for those who have never tried it before. The 2-night option (Friday & Saturday night) is available for those with at least one backpacking trip under their belts.
Backpacks, tents, stoves and other equipment are provided; making this an inexpensive way to discover the joys of backpacking (and ponies)!
A mandatory pre-planning session will be held on Saturday, June 9 in a central location; must be able to attend.
Participants may attend as individuals.
