Ways to Give

Cookie Share
Cookie Share is a Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline council-wide service project that allows girls the opportunity to sell virtual "Cookie Share" packages. Cookie Share cookies are distributed to the military and local food banks. The council delivers the products to the organizations directly from the bakery or from one of our warehouses. This gives customers an alternative to not buying for themselves or purchasing an extra box to share.

Kroger Community Rewards
Kroger Community Rewards makes fundraising for GSVSC easy… all you have to do is shop at Kroger and swipe your Kroger Plus Card! Did you know YOU MUST RE-REGISTER YOUR KROGER PLUS CARD EVERY YEAR in September? Visit the Kroger Community Rewards website and choose "Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council #82832."

Amazon Smile
Amazon Smile is a simple and automatic way for you to support GSVSC every time you shop. You will receive the same shopping experience, same products, same service PLUS Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to GSVSC. On your first visit to AmazonSmile, select "Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council" as your charity. Then, every eligible purchase you make through smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.

Kroger Community Rewards and AmazonSmile programs benefit the council operating budget exclusively. Proceeds help fund scholarships, financial assistance, community outreach programs and camps. Troops are not eligible to register for these programs under current money-earning guidelines.

Please contact Girl Scouts of VA Skyline for more info, or for help registering for either of these programs: 540-777-5100 or info@gsvsc.org.

Planned Giving: Juliette Gordon Low Society
In March of 1912, Juliette Gordon Low gathered 18 girls in Savannah, GA to begin Girl Scouts. Since then, Girl Scouts has grown to be the largest organization serving girls in the United States — more than two million strong. Juliette's outstanding leadership was matched by her stewardship. She converted the carriage house of her home into the first Girl Scout national headquarters, and she gifted the property to Girl Scouts in her will.

Juliette's bequest was the beginning of planned giving to Girl Scouts. In her memory, and on the occasion of our 100th anniversary, we established the national Juliette Gordon Low Society to thank and honor friends of Girl Scouting who, like Juliette, choose to make Girl Scouts part of their legacy and a beneficiary of their estate.

A Lasting Legacy
More than 59 million American women have enjoyed the excitement and camaraderie of Girl Scouts during their lifetime — and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts continues to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

As time goes by, the needs of girls change, and we must change to keep up with them. Today, we are deeply committed to making sure that our Girl Scout Movement is ready to honor the spirit and promise of future generations of Girl Scouts.

Helping us move boldly into the future by including a gift to Girl Scouting in their estate plans is a group of very special people — the members of the Juliette Gordon Low Society.

Benefits of Membership
As a JGL Society member, you will be invited to attend special recognition and educational events. Other benefits include a subscription to the Society newsletter, listing as a society member in select Girl Scout publications, access to digital resources and a special membership pin.

Sister Societies
Many local Girl Scout councils have formed sister societies to honor estate intentions. If your gift is directed to one of these councils, you become a national Juliette Gordon Low Society member as well as a member of the local society, and will enjoy the benefits of both.

Becoming a Member
Please contact Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline for more information about becoming a member of the JGL Society or to inform us of your plans to help ensure the legacy of Girl Scouting by providing a gift to Girl Scouts in your estate plans. Such gifts can include naming Girl Scouts as beneficiary of a:

  • Will
  • Retirement Plan
  • Living Trust
  • Donor Advised Fund
  • Life Insurance Policy
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Charitable Lead Trust
  • Remainder Gift of Real Estate
  • Any other gift that benefits Girl Scouts in the future

Your thoughtful and generous financial gift will help support and sustain Girl Scouting and will extend your involvement with the Movement beyond your lifetime.

You legacy will shine through the smiles, the laughter and the achievements of millions of Girl Scouts for years to come.
