GSVSC Delegate Election Process

Thank you for expressing an interest in the delegate election process for Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council.

Are you interested in being a delegate for your Service Unit? According to our recently revised by-laws, delegate elections will be conducted in the service units.

The by-laws require the following:

Delegates must be 14 years of age or older on or before October 1, 2009, who are registered through the council.
A quorum needs to be met for delegate elections. (A quorum consists of at least 5 members representing at least 10% of the registered at-large group.)

Dates of important meetings:

Each delegate is required to attend the Annual Meeting on January 30, 2010, at the Salem Civic Center.
Delegate training will be available to those who were not trained in the last two years.
Delegate training will be available at 9:00 AM at each Decision Influencing Meeting
Each delegate is required to attend a minimum of one Decision Influencing Meeting per registration year.
All times will be 10:00 AM registration with 10:30 – 12:00 for the meetings.
A delegate may attend any of the meetings in any area. The 2009 meetings are as follows:

October 17, 2009 at Fort Hill United Methodist Church, 106 Oakridge Blvd, Lynchburg VA

November 7, 2009 at Weyers Cave Community Center, 682 Weyers Cave Rd, Weyers Cave VA

December 5, 2009 at Blacksburg United Methodist Church, Whisner Building, 111 Church St. SE, Blacksburg VA

The top two vote getters will become the delegates and the others will become substitute delegates. Substitute delegates will be ranked by the number of votes received and moved into the delegate position on the morning of the Annual Meeting.

Installation will occur at the first Decision Influencing Meeting that a delegate or substitute delegate attends.
