Pre Vet Science Day Camp
Do you ever wonder what it takes to take for animals or to become a vet? At Pre-Vet Science Day Camp you will get to find out by doing hands-on activities that include helping equine vet Dr. Katie Wilson to examine Molly, a spotted saddle horse, using microscopes to identify parasites that hurt animals, giving injections, and learning to suture by Dr. Karen Bowman, visiting Southern Hills Animal Hospital, participating in a mock surgery, diagnosing while running a mock animal clinic, and so much more. We have five different veterinarian clinics participating to bring girls four days of animal care fun!
Vet Science Day Camp
Are you an older girl who seriously loves caring for animals or becoming a vet? The Vet Science Day Camp is a more in-depth vet science experience where campers entering grades 7-12 go on off-site field trips. These girls will work a day with the equine vets at Mountain View Equine Hospital, help at the Bed & Biscuit Boarding Kennel to care for the vacationing dogs, visit Southern Hills Animal Hospital with Dr. Mary Thorton, and learn surgical procedures by attending a live surgery from start to finish with Dr. Marybeth Chaconas at Planned Pethood of Rocky Mount. All transportation provided. With their newly learned skills, these vet students will run the mock surgery for the younger girls at the Pre-Vet Science Camp! Limited to 13 girls.
