Bag It Up! with Girl Scouts 2013

Help your community and the environment by collecting gently used material donations to benefit your local Goodwill ®. For every donation bin filled, your troop will earn two $10 Goodwill vouchers to give to local families in need.

You will receive Bag It Up! postcards, bags, and tickets to give to family members, neighbors, and friends. Bring donations to your local Goodwill Store on Bag It Up! Day, March 16, 2013. When donations are made containing your ticket, the troop will get credit towards the filling of donation bins.

Date: Saturday, March 16, 2013

Time: 10 AM – 7 PM

Place: All Goodwill ® Store locations

There are two ways to participate! One option will help you earn the EDGAR Patch!

Option 1:
Hand out Bag It Up! postcards, bags, and tickets to family, friends and neighbors. Collect donations and bring to local Goodwill ® stores on March 16, 2013. Donations may be delivered by family, friends, and neighbors but they need to make sure that your troop ticket is attached. For every donation bin filled, your troop will earn two $10 Goodwill vouchers to give to local families in need.

Option 2:
Earn the EDGAR (Educating that Donations to Goodwill are Recyclable) Patch. Participants must complete the following to earn the patch:

  1. Take a tour through a regional Goodwill Jobs Campus or Facility and learn about Goodwill’s mission of helping people get back to work.
  2. Hand out Bag It Up! postcards, bags, and tickets to family, friends and neighbors. Collect donations and bring to local Goodwill® stores on March 16, 2013. Donations may be delivered by family, friends, and neighbors but they need to make sure that your troop ticket is attached. For every donation bin filled, your troop will earn two $10 Goodwill vouchers to give to local families in need.

Troops that participate in Option 1 or 2 may have a cookie booth at Goodwill stores on February 16, 2013 and will hand out bags, postcards and donation tickets.

Note: Sign-ups for cookie booths at Goodwill locations must be emailed to Sylvie Peterson at speterson@gsvsc.org and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Troops must first obtain permission from their service unit/community Cookie Booth Coordinator. Remember, only troops participating in Option 1 or 2 may hold a Cookie Booth at Goodwill.
