Girls 11 years old and up… get ready for the Adventurers’ Challenge Weekend 2013! Join the Adventurers for a weekend of fun, challenges and friendship with teen Girl Scouts from our council. Choose from a variety of activities to participate in for Saturday and Sunday, ranging from caving and climbing to archery, jewelry making, and MUCH MORE! Sign up today!
Participants may attend as individuals or troops. Registered Girl Scout adults may sign up as adult staff members with completed paperwork and paid adult fee for lodging and meals. Adults serve only as chaperones; they do not participate in activities.
Saturday & Sunday Challenges
All activities are 2 1/2 hours in length. Each girl will participate in three activities.
Archery: Learn the basics of how to shoot a bow and arrow. Limit of 10 girls/session.
Canoeing: Practice your paddling skills on the camp lake. Play some games, but be careful not to capsize! Must be able to swim. Limit of 12 girls/session.
Caving: Visit the underground world of a nearby cave. (Additional $15 fee payable after confirmation.) Limit of 10 girls/session.
Climbing Wall: Learn the basics of climbing on a man-made wall at the camp. Limit of 20 girls/session.
Digital Photography: Bring your digital camera and learn some new ways to use it to create better images of the events in your life. Limit of 12 girls/session.
Duct Tape Accessories: Add some fun accessories to your life: a flower pen, a wallet, hair clips …let your imagination go wild! Limit of 16 girls/session.
Geocaching: Learn the basics of this high-tech treasure hunting using a portable GPS unit. Limit of 15 girls/session.
Hemp Jewelry: Create your own hemp jewelry; choose from several different bracelet designs. Limit of 20 girls/session.
High Ropes: Challenge yourself on the high ropes course at the camp. Limit of 30 girls/session.
Horseback Riding: Learn the basics of horse care, and experience a beginner’s riding lesson. (Additional $15 fee payable after confirmation.) Limit of 10 girls/session.
Mountain Biking: Challenge yourself on the hilly biking trails at the camp. Limit of 10 girls/session.
Outdoor Cooking: Try your hand at preparing some culinary delicacies over a campfire. Limit of 12 girls/session.
Rock Climbing: Travel to a nearby rock formation and try some natural climbing. (Additional $15 fee payable after confirmation.) Limit of 12 girls/session.
Tie-Dye Fun: Use different techniques to create some original fabric art: a t-shirt, a bandana, or maybe a pillowcase. Limit of 16 girls/session.
Lodging & Meals
Lodging will be in heated cabins with bunk beds. Participants may choose one roommate. Both girls must list each other on their registration forms or submit the information by mail or email. All meals are provided from Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch. Fee includes all meals, lodging, patch and basic programming. Some high-adventure activities will have an additional fee (see above for specific fees).
