2013 marks GSVSC’s 50th Anniversary! Join us Friday evening at Camp Icimani for a Golden Get-Together; activities include a reception and meet and greet with our Keynote Speaker, Kate Genaitis (GSVSC CEO 1980-1996), craft SWAPS, round table discussions and a song workshop. Events are designed for participants to go from one to the other on their own schedule within the time frame of the evening. Light snacks will be available while you enjoy the following:
 
7–9 PM: Reception
Meet and share Virginia Skyline memories with Kate Genaitis, Virginia Skyline CEO 1980–1996, and our keynote speaker for the Annual Meeting.
 
7–9 PM: Training
Round table discussion for working with your troop at any age-level on any of the Journey Programs.
 
7–9 PM: Craft (SWAPS)
Nancy Miller, Troop Leader and SWAP Expert
Join us for a fun workshop learning to make special SWAPS that you and your troop can use and swap. You all are also invited to bring your own SWAP ideas to share.
 
8–9:15 PM: “Make New Friends But Keep The Old” Song Workshop
Donna Holden, Troop Leader and Expert Song Leader
Girl Scouts have been singing together for 100 years now and we want to keep on singing into the next century. In this song workshop, you’ll revisit the golden oldies of Girl Scout songs as well as be introduced to the new favorites of today. Includes: rounds, graces, ceremonial and camping. (Supplies to bring: paper and pencil or camera to copy words, recording device to remember tunes, water bottle/cup to keep hydrated.)

Council business, including election of Board of Directors members and Board Development Committee members and approval of council bylaws revisions.
 
Keynote Speaker:
Kate Genaitis, Virginia Skyline Council Executive Director 1980 -1996
Kate Genaitis has more than 40 years of experience in the non-profit sector and, since her retirement from Girl Scouts of the USA, lends her expertise to a variety of organizations. Kate began her professional career with the Sackerah Path Girl Scout Council (now Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson). She was assistant executive director of the White Plains Child Day Care Association from 1974-1976, then returned to Girl Scouting as executive director of the Southwestern Connecticut Girl Scout Council (now Girl Scouts of Connecticut), and served in the same capacity for the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council for 16 years.
 
Roundtable Discussion
Roundtable discussion with GSVSC Board Members and the Service Fee Task Group on the impact of adding a council service fee to the annual Girl Scout membership dues.
 
12:30–1:45 PM: 50th Anniversary Luncheon
Cost is $15 per person (pre-payment required by January 10). Menu: Salad bar (lettuce served with grilled chicken, bacon, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, red peppers, avocado, mushrooms, banana peppers, shredded carrots, corn, egg, blue cheese, feta cheese, cheddar cheese, croutons and assorted dressings); house-made chicken noodle soup with oyster crackers; vegetarian minestrone soup; rolls with butter, sweet and unsweetened tea, ice water.
 
Other lunch options: Food CANNOT be brought into the Vinton War Memorial. If you choose to eat lunch at a nearby restaurant, you may do so and return to the Vinton War Memorial in time for afternoon activities.
 
1:45–3:30 PM: Afternoon Programs
50th Anniversary Celebration — All are welcome to sing “Happy Birthday”, decorate and enjoy special birthday cupcakes.
 
Live and Silent Purse Auction to raise money for the council scholarship fund.
